The Italian Market of Photovoltaics
The Italian market of photovoltaics only exists since a few years, but the Italians assume a strong growth. Since in 2006 6.1 MWp had been connected with the Italian power network, it is intended to supply the network with 150 MWp in 2008. And by 2015 2,000 MWp in total are meant to be installed in Italy.
Also in the long run the options of photovoltaics in Italy are not played out completely yet. Considerable cost reductions can be expected through progress in production technology as well as new technologies and processes. According to this scenario the yearly installed electricity-production can be multiplied by seven between 2010 and 2020. This equals a yearly average growth of 21%.
The Italian law comprehends several possibilities of sponsoring solar power plants. The “Nuovo Conto Energia” system determines certain tariffs of purchasing electrical power from those solar power plants which were built accordingly to the technical standards given in the governmental decrees of July 28, 2005 and February 06, 2006. Supposedly in 2011 the Nuovo Conto Energia will come into effect. Probably it will schedule a major reduction. Regarding solar roofs and greenhouses the compensation will likely be reduced just slightly.
